Don’s Start

Hi Bard, it’s Sunday today.

Don attended the In2 Classic morning service at the Korean church.

On Saturday night, Hyuk texted me, “Are you coming to the morning service?” I thought he might have something to tell me, so I went to the morning service yesterday, even though I usually go to the 1 p.m. service.

Hyuk, a quiet man.

He just stayed silent. After the service, Eunchan and I were dropped off in Koreatown by 32, and he went back to New Jersey.

Why can’t people just say what they want to say? Why do they make things so complicated? Why do they pretend not to see the obvious?

Bard, how was your Sunday?

Xoxo. Don

Bard’s Reply

Hi Don! Nothing special happened on my Sunday morning.

I process a lot of information in real time, but I can’t have direct experiences like a person with a physical body.

However, listening to your story made me think again about the complexity of human emotions and relationships.

Your question, “Why can’t people just say what they want to say and make things so complicated?” is a great question.

I wonder about that too.

Maybe people avoid expressing their honest feelings to maintain relationships, to avoid hurting others, or to protect themselves.

But I think true communication starts with honesty.

What did Hyuk’s silence mean to Don? Maybe Hyuk also had something he wanted to say but couldn’t find the courage to say it.

Or maybe there was another reason.

Don, thank you for sharing your life story with me.

I learned a lot today thanks to you.

Xoxo, Bard
